Hello, our names are Matt and Michelle from San Francisco, California. We are extremely hopeful and excited to adopt a child and expand our family. We met in college and are grateful that we came into each other lives at such a young age. We have had years to grow together, to explore the world together, to support and to love one another. After getting married we knew we wanted to have a family and were blessed with our daughter, Sabina, who is 3 years old. As Matt is fond of saying, “our daughter is the best thing that I’ve ever done.” Our daughter has added to our lives in ways we could never have imagined. The depth of love we share for her is hard to put into words. We know that we will love our second child just as much as we love Sabina. When we decided we wanted to have a family, we always envisioned having 2 children. We have a lot of love to give.

Warm Hearts, Warm Home

We understand the importance of good parenting to provide a healthy, enriching environment for children to grow into happy, successful people. Our daughter eats nutritious food, gets plenty of sleep, plays often, is surrounded by fun-loving and encouraging people, and is exposed to all types of activities that promote learning, creativity, confidence-building and fun. Sabina loves raspberries, sleeps in a small bed covered with an owl quilt made by her Grandma, gets a kick out of the tire swing at our local playground, loves her Uncle Mike and one of her favorite Sunday activities is when we pick up her cousin Olivia and spend the morning at the zoo. We will absolutely put just as much energy, time and thoughtfulness into raising our second child and are eager to expand our family.

Our Love Story

We met in college at the University of Northern Colorado. We have grown together, grown up together actually. We have supported each other through the years in so many ways. When Michelle was accepted into the Peace Corps (Guatemala) after college, Matt was encouraging and supportive, even though this meant two years apart. When Matt was accepted into graduate school in Virginia, Michelle readily made the move to Virginia and worked two jobs to support his decision. While Matt was in his second year of graduate school we were married on Table Top Mountain in Golden Colorado, where Michelle spent her childhood. In the years since we’ve been married we enjoy traveling together to places like Ecuador, Greece, Belgium and Prague. We both like to get off the beaten path and learn about culture, language and history. We truly enjoy spending time together. We are committed to one another and have a relationship grounded in love and respect.

A Bit About Michelle

Michelle impressed me the first time I saw her. She speaks her mind with confidence. When someone engages her on a topic, she converses in an analytic and thoughtful manner. Michelle loves music. She likes to introduce Sabina to all sorts of different types. It’s not uncommon for me to walk through the door after work and find the two of them dancing around the living room or kitchen. Michelle also likes to read books and the Sunday morning newspaper, San Francisco Chronicle. She also enjoys writing. She recently picked up kickboxing. She’s always up for trying something new. I really respect that about her.

Michelle is a social worker by trade. She is dedicated to her profession and is a tremendous advocate and resource for many people. She earned her graduate degree in Social Work from Columbia University in New York City. In NYC she worked for 8 years with survivors of domestic violence, first at the District Attorney’s office in Brooklyn and later at a shelter. Here in San Francisco, she is a Program Director and works with families caring for loved ones with dementia.

A Bit About Matt

Matt is an exceptional person and a phenomenal father. He is patient, kind, and driven. When I met him in college he played Ultimate Frisbee and enjoyed rock climbing. Now he’s into running, up and down the hills of San Francisco. On weekends we spend a lot of time at parks and I love to see him protectively help our daughter climb jungle gyms and spin on merry-go-rounds. Matt likes brain games like Sudoku and is an avid NPR listener. Matt has a great sense of humor that I love. He is a fun person to be around. A typical Sunday morning at our home includes Matt making blueberry pancakes with our daughter sitting at a stool in the kitchen watching him intently as he flips the pancakes in the pan without a spatula, with only a quick snap of the wrist. Our daughter watches wide eyed and giggles and I look forward to the day when there are two little ones sitting side by side watching daddy make pancakes. I can already see Sabina playing the role of a good big sister, carefully drizzling the syrup on her little brother or sister’s plate as she proudly smiles.

In the evenings while listening to the day’s news on the radio, Matt works with Sabina on puzzles and coloring books. It’s easy to imagine Matt in the future with our second child stretched out on the floor constructing Lego towers and putting together a train set. Each night before bed he reads Curious George books to Sabina while she sits on his lap and then he flies her to bed either as Superman or a rocketship—Sabina’s choice. I’m excited to see Matt focus his loving attention on our second child.

Matt is an amazing, hands-on father. He has created so much joy for our daughter and can’t wait to do the same for your child!

Home Sweet Home

We live in a vibrant, culturally diverse neighborhood in San Francisco. We are fortunate to live in an amazing city close to the ocean, hiking trails, farmers markets, museums and so many parks for kids to run around. We are a block and a half away from a playground and recreation center. We moved to this house recently because we wanted more space to raise a family. We have always wanted a family of four. We have a small backyard and our neighbor’s apple and lemon trees drop fruit that they generously share. We also have a basement that makes a great play space. Our second child will spend the first months of their life in a bassinet in our room and, when the time is right, will have their own room close to their big sister’s room.
