We're not your typical couple
We’re both musicians who enjoy spending time at home playing music and listening to records. We value sitting down for dinner each night without the distraction of television, a tradition we plan to continue once we become parents.
Our work
Tex works primarily from home as an environmental, human & animals rights writer for Care2.com, and as the marketing manager for an enviornmental tech startup called EarthX. Chris works in the music industry—he’s trained in music production, is a performing musician, and also works at a concert hall in San Francisco.
Together, we bring in additional income through Airbnb, hosting people in a guest space located apart from our own living quarters.
We'll be stay-at-home parents
Spending time to bond and care for our child is extremely important to us both, so we’re glad that working from home will enable us to be stay-at-home parents.
How We Met
We met at 12 Galaxies, a live music venue in San Francisco. Chris was performing and Tex was in the audience. After the show, we started talking outside and hit it off right away. Tex confided to her friend that night, “I think he’s the one”, and we’ve been together ever since, happily married for over 2 years.
Our Home Sweet Home
Our home is a hub where friends, family and close-knit neighbors including lots of kids get together often to laugh, eat and play.
Chris and his dad renovated it over time—their most recent project is a remodeled bedroom for our new baby to enjoy all to him or her self.
Tex loves to garden so our fenced in back yard is filled with lots of plants. A typical evening at our home: Tex will be in the kitchen cooking, which she enjoys doing, while Chris entertains her on the guitar.
She can’t wait to pass on her cooking skills to their child, and Chris looks forward to teaching him or her to play the guitar.
What We Look Forward to Doing as a Family
We prefer reading books and listening to records to watching TV. One of the things we look forward to is bedtime story time with our new child. In summertime, we’re both excited to go camping and river swimming.
Tex loves holidays and really gets into the spirit, so she’s especially excited about celebrating the holidays with our child-- setting out gifts from Santa on Christmas Eve, exploring the local pumpkin patch in fall, and going out trick-or-treating with friends and their kids. The more fun traditions the better!
