Hello! We are an active, happy and loving couple in our mid-thirties from San Jose, California. We are overjoyed to be adding another child to our family, and we are so thankful that you are considering an adoption plan for your child. We are grateful for the opportunity to introduce ourselves and explain our reasons for wanting to expand our family. We can only imagine what you are going through emotionally at this time, and we wish you peace and strength as you decide what is best for you and your child.

Our Story (so far)

We met in college at UC Berkeley. After dating for many years and living around the country to finish up our educations, we married in August 2006 on our college campus surrounded by friends and family.

We’ve always looked forward to having children, and after a few years of trying we felt so lucky and excited to get pregnant with our son Nathan, who was born in February 2012.

We have both found so much enjoyment being parents and we love our family time together. We know that we have more love to give and we are ready to bring home another baby through adoption.

Jenny (written by David)

Jenny was born and raised in the Bay Area. I fell in love with Jenny in college and love her now more than ever. Jenny has a soft voice and a sweet smile, but is also a very strong woman with even stronger conviction. Jenny continually encourages those around her to be better people, including me.

Seeing Jenny as a mother has given me even more respect for her. Particularly how patient she is with Nathan and the other kids in the young family group we are in. Jenny takes care of our family.One thing I love is that Jenny goes out of her way to include Nathan in many of her daily activities. She bakes with Nathan (he does the stirring), she taught him needlepoint “sewing” (Jenny is a fiber artist and an award winning quilter), has had him play music (Jenny plays saxophone and trombone), and taught him baby signs (Jenny previously taught baby sign language professionally).

Jenny’s flexible job as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist has allowed her ample time with Nathan. She takes him swimming, to gymnastics, to music class, and to the Zoo. I know Jenny can’t wait to be a mother of two and to raise our second child with just as much love and creative learning through play.

Jenny loves quilting! Along with her amazing quilts that she makes year round, she has also made a very special birthday quilt for Nathan each year. Jenny can’t wait to make our future child quilts that he or she can treasure forever.

David (written by Jenny)

David was born in Simi Valley, California, and grew up with an older brother. I first fell in love with David because he was so honest, supportive, and hilarious, and these traits have continued to support our marriage even 9 years later.

David has proven himself to be a wonderful father to our son. When David gets home from work as an engineer at a computer company, he drops everything to spend quality time with Nathan. David loves to spend time as a family on the weekends. We walk to the local coffee shop on Saturday morning for coffee, juice/milk, and an apple fritter to share, and then continue on to our neighborhood park. David has always been able to make Nathan laugh with his ability to joke with him, make funny faces, and toss him into the air and catch him.

On our first Mother’s Day after Nathan was born, David and 3-month-old Nathan made a special baked dessert for me. David photographed all the steps, (mostly Nathan sleeping in his bouncy chair holding various measuring cups), and then emailed them to me as a Mother’s Day surprise after we had shared the dessert. He is a thoughtful and loving man.

David is good about taking the time to teach Nathan about the world, as evidenced by Nathan knowing the names of all of Daddy’s tools in the garage and what they are used for. I know David is so excited to teach our second child about the world and to support the sibling relationship of his children that he enjoyed so much with his brother.

Our Home

We own a 4-bedroom home in a nice area of San Jose, a quick walk to a wonderful playground and park, and a longer walk to a library and a cute kid-friendly downtown, including the best children’s book store in the area. Our backyard has room to run around, ride bikes, play with chalk and bubbles, and play in the playhouse. We have a garden bed where pumpkins, tomatoes, and cucumbers grow very well! We have many friendly neighbors. We started a July 4th tradition of throwing a neighborhood barbecue and block party every year for the past 4 years.

David takes care of our house, fixing things when they are not working so that we are comfortable and happy in our home. David is a talented woodworker and has made furniture to improve our house including a beautiful cradle that Nathan slept in as a baby for his first 3 months. We are thrilled to be able to use the cradle again for our second baby

Future Big Brother Nathan

Nathan is a sweet little boy who loves to make his family and friends laugh. He wakes up with a smile, ready to start the day! He loves to read books, race toy cars, build towers with Legos, make art and listen to Star Wars music with Daddy. He is curious about the world and asks “why” about everything we encounter, which we encourage since it is a great way to learn!

We know that Nathan will be an amazing and supportive big brother. He’s very good at playing and sharing with babies in our circle of friends, and often asks if we can have a baby in our house too, saying, “Someday I want to be a brother.”

Our Friends & Family

We live close to all of Nathan’s 5 grandparents (Jenny’s mom, stepmom, dad, and David’s parents) and see at least one grandparent every weekend.

We love to celebrate the traditions of our family. We celebrate the many fun Jewish holidays: lighting the candles on Friday nights for Shabbat, building a backyard fort every year for Sukkot, special dinners for the Jewish New Year and Passover, dressing up for Purim, and the 8 nights of fun and good food for Hanukkah. We also enjoy the Chinese traditions: big family dinners for weddings, seeing the dragon dancers and drums for Chinese New Year, and celebrating new babies with Red Egg & Ginger parties. We are so excited to share these traditions with our second child and create new traditions as a family of four!

In our family, we emphasize communication, showing respect for each other, and lots of love and hugs. Lots of love and hugs are waiting for the newest addition to our family!
