Hello! We are Cassie and Lauren. We are in our mid-30s and live in Tiburon, California. We have been very happily married for 5 years and together for 12 years. Due to work, we have lived in many different cities and states over the years, but are now happily settled in California and plan to stay that way! Cassie is a pediatric doctor that specializes in cancer and Lauren is a business manager at a large construction company. Cassie comes from an American Indian background, where a close-knit family was a priority. These traditions continue to shape our plans for our own family.  And, we are so excited to become first-time parents! We have several close friends who have adopted or are adopted and after hearing their stories, we know that adoption is right for us and are honored to build our family through open adoption. We respect the incredible courage and strength you have to make this challenging decision and should you choose our family, we will work to honor your decision by giving our child a supportive home to grow up in, one filled with continual love, stability, and happiness.

About Us

We met while at the University of Virginia in the small-town of Charlottesville. We worked at the same restaurant and quickly fell in love through our combined passion for being active, always being up for adventures, and constantly making each other laugh—even randomly picking up racquetball as a new sport together—which we were both terrible at! After we finished college, we decided it was time for a new adventure…a big move to California! We fell in love with San Diego and ended up staying there for 8 years while Cassie completed medical school. After medical school, Cassie went to Philadelphia for medical training and Lauren went to business school.  California then called again, so we moved to the Bay Area. We love to spend free time visiting friends, going to dinner (both of us LOVE to eat), and traveling, locally and to faraway places. We look forward to our dinners together each night and make this time a priority. Most of the time Cassie cooks (her specialty is veggie lasagna), but Lauren makes a mean plate of French toast and scrambled eggs on the weekends! We are beyond excited to be parents and continue our traditions, family dinners, and adventures as a family of three!

Lauren On All Things Cassie

Cassie is the most nurturing and caring person that I know. She spent much of her life taking care of her younger cousins and brother. As an adult, she has chosen to dedicate herself to children sick with cancer. Not only does she have a passion for taking care of others, but she is a natural with kids! Children are always so happy around her and she has a magic ability to put a smile on their faces when they are upset. I feel blessed knowing that our child will not only be in loving hands, but also medically trained hands. I can’t wait to watch Cassie play with our own child and bring out those adorable baby laughs that I love.

I am also grateful to parent a child with a woman who puts 100% into everything she does. Cassie inspires me on a daily basis with her resilience and positive mindset. She has overcome much adversity in her life and has achieved so much. Cassie has a quality about her that makes you feel like you can do anything and I’m excited to see how that positivity and dedication will translate to our child. I know that with her influence, our child will feel like they can achieve any dream they have.

Like me, Cassie grew up in Virginia, spending a lot of time outdoors, both at the beach and in the mountains. She is so excited to bring our child along on all of our adventures, from camping and hiking to boating and fishing. I have no doubt Cassie has already mapped out each hike we will take, planning to tote along our son or daughter on her back!

Cassie On All Things Lauren

Lauren is a ball of energy, approaching life with a full heart and

goal of making things better. She is one of the most compassionate and big-hearted people I have ever met and is an incredible wife, daughter, friend, and co-worker to all who know her. Like me, Lauren was born and raised in Virginia, growing up near the coast, surfing and boating, and playing nearly every sport she could get her hands on. I know she is already excited about spending weekends on the sidelines of our child’s sporting events and watching him or her play outside and explore over weekends and summers.

Lauren’s energy level has led her to compete in a variety of long-distance, challenge races. She constantly comments that she sees fellow racers crossing the finish line holding their children and can’t wait to be one of them! Aside from races, Lauren loves to read, draw, and paint and I know will help our child balance their formal education with creative interests. Our house already includes several of Lauren’s drawings and her next big project will be painting a mural in our child’s bedroom.

One of Lauren’s passions is her work as a business manager at a large construction company and her company is incredibly family-friendly, we have yearly family ski trips to Mammoth Mountain, annual picnics, and regular trips to Giants baseball games. I can just see Lauren teaching our child to ski and experience snow for the first time and bringing our son or daughter up going to Giants games!

Our Home

Today, we rent a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condominium near parks, great schools, a marina, walking trails, and shopping areas in Tiburon, CA. We love our home and aim to make it peaceful, cozy, and inviting to everyone. We co-host Thanksgiving most years and enjoy spending the day cooking and watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade with our closest friends and nearby family. Cassie always takes full advantage of the kitchen, cooking delicious food each night as we listen to the neighborhood kids play outside, combined with whatever easy-going music Lauren has chosen to play in the house. We’ve already started planning our child’s room and look forward to spending evenings and weekends taking him or her on walks through our neighborhood and nearby parks. We also share our home with our 10-year old dachshund/Chihuahua mix, Zeppelin. He is the happiest dog we know and we call him our “forever puppy.” We can already envision our child take their first steps in our living room and watching him or her quickly learn to chase after Zeppelin.  

Our Family

Our families are as excited as we are about our plans to adopt! We spend every Christmas holiday together and all wake up on Christmas morning to open gifts as a family. We also always have big family dinners for Lauren’s birthday, since it’s the day after Christmas. We go on family vacations too; most recently we went on a camping trip to Yellowstone Park. All the future grandparents plan to be very hands-on with our child. Cassie’s dad can’t wait to take our son or daughter fishing, which the families do together every summer and Lauren’s mom can’t wait to add another grandbaby to sit on the sun porch with as we all do in the evenings on spring and fall visits to Virginia. Everyone on both sides of the family is committed to ensuring our child feels all the love and support they deserve.

We are a caring, financially stable couple who dream of starting a family and can’t wait to offer our child a supportive and encouraging home filled with constant love. We plan to give our son or daughter all opportunities they wish to explore, from academics to extracurricular activities to travel—allowing him or her to achieve whatever dreams they have. We know our families will also support our child in the same manner, nurturing him or her to the fullest extent and helping them grow healthy and confident.

We recognize that our dream to start a family is only possible because of the great strength and love you have to consider adoption for your child. And for this, we are so very grateful for you.
