Hi! We’re Kevin and Conor, two guys in love, married, and living in the heart of San Francisco, California. We’re both in our mid-thirties and have been together for seven years. Kevin pours his teaching skills and creativity into his marketing job and Conor’s on a mission to save the environment through a career in green energy policy. We love to travel and have our friends over for dinner at our house. We’re lucky to have a supportive network of friends and family (including a few adoptive families) and can’t wait to become parents. We’d like to tell you a bit about us...

Our story as a couple

One weekend, Kevin was visiting San Francisco and his friend Sarah asked him to make dinner. What he didn’t know was that she secretly invited Conor to join. Kevin lived in Los Angeles at the time, yet it was love at first sight. Conor credits Kevin’s cooking and Kevin credits Conor’s charm. We spent our first 18 months as a couple traveling between SF and LA, taking a few trips to Latin America, and getting to know one another’s families.

It quickly became clear that we were the perfect match, so Kevin moved up to San Francisco. We bought a condo, got married in aredwood forest, and continued to explore in Vietnam, Spain, New York City, England, and France. Our relationship has continued to grow stronger over the years. We’re now ready to start building our own family together.

Building our family

For both of us, becoming dads has always been a dream. Building a family together will be an extension of the love we share for each other, and we know that adoption is the best way to make our dream come true. We’ve seen how rewarding adoption can be through the experiences of several close friends.

When it comes to parenting, we have complementary strengths. Conor is calm, caring, and full of love. Kevin is high-energy and a natural teacher. Although we’re different in some ways, we both come from strong families and have the same core values.

To us, family is based on unconditional love. We’re committed to doing the daily tasks required of new parents, learning to understand and respond to all the needs of our child. We’ll show up for every performance, slice oranges for half-time, volunteer in the classroom, and celebrate every milestone — big and small. We’re so excited to embark on this wonderful journey together.

About Conor: In Kevin's words

Conor grew up in southern California and his parents live just a few hours away from us. They’re excited to become grandparents and already have plans for road trips north to spend time with their grandchild.

Conor loves reading about history and is a great storyteller. He’s always making connections between the past and the present. I can’t begin to imagine the things he’s going to teach our child. Conor also has a great sense of humor and is a talented athlete. On our first ski trip to Lake Tahoe, he spent the day whizzing past me on a snowboard, tossing snowballs as I tried my hardest not to tumble down the mountain.

He’s recently been teaching me how to surf and I’m amazed at how patient he is out on the water (born in Ohio, I’m not exactly a natural in the open ocean). He’ll be teaching our child how to ski and surf as soon as he or she is old enough. I know Conor’s going to be such a great dad.

About Kevin: In Conor's words

Kevin is a loving, high-energy person. From getting in an early morning workout to bringing friends together after work for a fabulous home-cooked meal, he knows how to make the most of his day.

As a friend, Kevin is thoughtful, present, and trustworthy. As a husband, he is caring and patient. He has the uncanny ability to sense if I’ve had a hard day and knows just how to respond — usually with chocolate chip cookies.

Kevin is also the most selfless person I’ve ever met. From building schools for children in a West African village to working as a kindergarten teacher and school leader in low-income neighborhoods of Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and San Jose, he has helped thousands of kids achieve their full potential.

These days, you’re likely to find one of our friend’s kids sitting on his lap as he reads to them or lets them show off their toy collection. He loves spending time with children and is going to be the best dad!

Our home in San Francisco

Our home is on a quiet street, but is the spot for frequent dinners with our close friends and their kids. Kevin spends his free time in the kitchen, cooking up awesome meals. Conor plays sous-chef and is in charge of the wine list. Outside of the kitchen, Kevin’s the decorator-in-chief; he’s excited to start hunting for furniture to turn the guest bedroom into our baby’s nursery. Conor’s looking forward to calm, quiet nights cuddling with our baby on the couch (with some popcorn and a great Netflix lineup, of course).

We live near the Castro district in San Francisco, a diverse, creative, and lively neighborhood. We chose to make a home here because it’s a place where people from all walks of life are genuinely welcome. Our community is full of young families, and many kids have two dads or two moms. We know that our child will have friends who were also adopted and can personally relate to our family structure.

We spend sunny afternoons in our small backyard and also like to stroll around the neighborhood or to a nearby park. Often, we take day trips to the beach or to the redwood forests of Northern California where we got married. There’s no better place to raise our child to appreciate both the bustling city and peaceful, open nature.
